COOKE COUNTY, TX -- In an effort to raise awareness about abuse Cooke County has declared June "Domestic Violence Awareness Month".
Saturday Abigail's Arms kicked off with its second annual Cooke County Country Carnival". It is sponsored by area churches. All money raised will go to the construction of the Crisis Center's new Shelter. It will be the first shelter in the county and is fully funded by donations.
Organizers say the carnival helps spread the word about the importance of domestic violence awareness.
"This county is so supportive of the things that Abigail's Arms does. They wanted to make sure and kind of set it aside separately. So, in all of June we have all types of education activities going on and awareness activities," Abigail's Arms Director Kim Cook said.
