Life-long Fannin County resident Dean Lackey has been sworn in as Fannin County commissioner, precinct 4.
It's a job the entrepreneur has been eyeing for a few years and Monday morning it became reality when he was formally sworn in for his position, covering Bonham.
Judge Spanky Carter interviewed 16 candidates for the opening after Commissioner Joe Strong passed away last month Judge Carter is pleased he's found someone that can live up to Strong's legacy.
Judge Spanky Carter, "I think Commissioner Lackey will have a great work ethic and will be a great leader for his constituents in his county..there is no doubt in my mind that he will get the job done."
Lackey says" Fannin County is the best place in the world to live.. [I'm'] honored...felt extremely proud..just want to make sure I can make the right decisions..do a good job."
His family is excited as well, his wife says, "i'm very proud of him..he's a good man of good character and we're just very happy to start this new adventure."
Commissioner Lackey will serve the remainder of the term through December 2014 at which point he can run for re-election.
