DENISON, TX -- If your kids attend a Denison elementary school they may be going to a different campus next year.

Tonight, Denison ISD's proposed new elementary school boundaries were presented to the school board.

Superintendent, Dr. Henry Scott, says because Golden Rule Elementary will close at the end of this school year.

Current Golden Rule students and kids living within Golden Rule's zone will be sent to surrounding elementary schools starting next fall.

He says if the proposed changes are approved they'd affect about 200 students.

Scott said, "We want to keep the kids to be as close to the neighborhood school as possible not have students cross over major highways or rail roads balance out the students with the campuses and to make sure that we have capacity for the future."

Scott says the district will hold a public hearing with parents of elementary students during the first week of December but no specific date has been set.

The rezoning plan will be finalized December 17th.
