DENISON, TX -- The Police Department could soon have two assistant chiefs.
It's part of a restructuring move for the department up for approval at Monday night's city council meeting.
According to the proposal, the current structure is confusing and inefficient, with some employees lacking a senior commander.
The plan would eliminate the captain rank, promoting the current captain to assistant chief.
The department would be divided into two divisions - Operations and Support Services - with each chief overseeing a division.
The newly promoted captain would also receive a 5 to 7 percent pay increase.
