DENISON, Texas -- A Denison Police Department squad car was rear-ended around 6:56 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 75 just before the Spur 503 exit.

The Denison officer's patrol car was in the left lane of northbound Hwy 75 when the accident occurred. He was assisting a stalled motorist.

That's when a red Dodge pickup rear-ended the Denison officer's car.

The officer was in his car at the time of the accident, but walked away uninjured.

The driver of the pickup was taken to Texoma Medical Center, stating she had suffered chest injuries and other minor injuries.

The driver in the stalled vehicle was not involved in the rear-ending.

The accident shutdown both northbound lanes of Hwy 75 for over an hour while a Texas DPS Trooper investigated the scene and crews cleaned the roadway.

Cars inched along the right shoulder of the road and were diverted onto the frontage road to get around the accident.

Lt. Mike Eppler with Denison PD said DPS Troopers will investigate the crash because it happened on the highway and involved one of Denison's fleet vehicles.

Police urge drivers to slow down and move over as far as possible when approaching an emergency vehicle from behind.
