DENISON, TX - A storm tore through Grayson county early this morning and hit Denison pretty hard.

Driving around today you could see Denison has quite a bit of damage from the storm.
Local residents say the noise from the wind was so loud, they thought they were getting hit by a tornado.
The storm hit around 6 o'clock this morning.
Rain and Wind gusts of up to 65 miles per hour blew through the area leaving behind broken trees, down power lines, and tearing up several local businesses.
The steeple on Parkside Baptist church was blown over.
Burger King, the Shell station, and several other places at Morton and 75 lost power and sustained wind damage.
Most places were able to continue with business as usual by noon and Pastor Haney says although services were cancelled today due to the damage, they should be okay by next sunday.

im sorry but this was not wind damage. It was a tornado and you failed to see it or warn us of it. Our home is severly damaged. It took the whole back side of our porch that went the length of our home and 6ft out and roof.not to include the rest of the damage it did to our home.

The damage was quite severe, but I have to wonder why the damage was so inconsistent. For example, large trees being uprooted, but then no damage to a house 15 ft away. Then vice versa somewhere else. This pattern seemed to repeat itself throughout the city. It's almost as if the wind was coming down with pin point accuracy to destroy something and then lift back up. Very odd!

This has been so frustrating. We have been without power since 5:30 AM Saturday That I can handle. But with no power and trying to get information on our radio. We got nothing. Form any of our local station radio or tv. When I tried to call TXU to get a human. I did alright They were in Guatemala. Our Local Radio Stations could have at least given updates once an hour! The folks that had power probably got nonstop coverage as usual. something doesn't seem right with this.

65 mph winds? Please. I've played a round of golf in 65mph wind gusts. That was way more than 65mph winds.

our friends insurance adjuster categorized the damage done as f1 tornado..... and i heard from the adjustor that one of the business' signs on morton was built to withstand 90 mph winds and it went down. My mom and her boyfriend witnessed the twisting trees and the winds in a funnels shape..just curious why no onw has confirmed this as a tornado or not when it so obviously was way more than 65 mph winds. And why no coverage on this until late...i was checking the news stations constantly online saturday to find out what happened and was able to find no coverage of the damage in denison,

It is obvious we had a small tornado touch down 8 miles west of Hwy 75 off of Hwy 82. There is a path of destruction on our property, and the neighbors. A row of trees are stripped down to the bone, plus downed power line poles, flipped farm equipment and a home with major damage right in the middle of this path. Our house was shaking and the path followed approx. 150 feet behind the house heading straight for Denison. This storm hit us at 5:55am.

I was up at 6 A.M this morning. There were no warning what so ever. The trees infront of my house was being twisted like rope. The Burger King sign feel over and McDonald's sign was ripped apart. Power line polls broke in half. My neighbors hot tub was in a a front yard two houses down and trees were up rooted.
