Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
SHERMAN, TX-Dozens came together to recognize a well-known member of the Sherman community who has announced his retirement.
Jim Pledger, the senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Sherman is retiring after 20 years in service. He also founded the Great Days of Service in 1996 and has been active in the community since then. Pledger said he's retiring to spend more time with his family.
"I'm touched as a whole, just like anybody would be but I'm not surprised. It's been a wonderful 25 years living here, 20 years with the church, but working in the community and meeting people has been a benefit, a bonus for me," he said.
Pledger said he is moving down to Fort Worth to be with his grandchildren.
