Durant first grade class wins 'Ag in the Classroom' video contest

DURANT, OK -- A local first grade class is the winner of Oklahoma "Ag in the Classroom" video contest.

The video is from Beth Bean's first grade class at Northwest Heights Elementary School.

The school held an assembly Friday afternoon to showcase the video. Students in the class also received certificates.

It's a statewide contest, with all grades judged in the same category - from pre-k to eighth grade.

"We talked about pizza. Because pizza is something kids can relate to," Bean said. "And without agriculture, which we talk about as farming, pizza wouldn't exist."

Bean also received state-runner up for "Ag in the Classroom" teacher of the year.
