Ed "Too Tall" Jones delivers keynote speech at Sherman Chamber event

SHERMAN, TX -- Former Dallas Cowboy player Ed "Too Tall" Jones stole the show like a football from a quarterback's hands, as he addressed the Sherman Chamber of Commerce about leadership.

"Well it's so important," Jones said. "I found that everything I've done on the field and off the field in business is not successful."

It's the Chamber's annual awards luncheon. But this year was a special occasion - it's the 100th anniversary.

"One hundred years for anything is a milestone. And there are some businesses around this area that are celebrating 100 years as well," said Chamber President Eddie Brown. "And it is a milestone for us. And we look forward to continuing into the next century."

Jones described Sherman as his second home. And says he wanted to share his life stories.

"This is a very diverse crowd here today. And just hopefully they enjoyed some of my experiences," he said. "And I was certainly happy to share them with them."

He told the crowd any game worth playing is worth winning.

"Find out what you really want to do. Give it 110 percent. And the majority of the time, you're gonna be successful," he said.

Jones' speech scored big points with Brown.

"Those are things - whether it's Sherman Chamber of Commerce or anything we do in life - if we're involved and giving it our best, and we're helping out, it'll help us all become better leaders," Brown said.

The Chamber also honored Mac's Shirts and More as small business of the year, and Tyson as large business of the year.
