CLAYTON, OK - Two inmates who escaped an Atoka prison late last night didn't make it very far before police caught up with them.
The Clayton Police Department in Pushmataha County tells us around midnight 24-year-old Nicholas Melton and 20-year-old Colton Potter escaped the McLeod Correctional Facility in Atoka in a stolen car.
When the call went out, Clayton Police Chief Roger Erwin went on duty and spotted the vehicle on Highway 2. Chief Erwin pulled over the stolen car and arrested the inmates. They were placed back into Oklahoma Department of Corrections custody today.
