POTTSBORO, TX -- The family of a Grayson County man who was shot to death in Pottsboro earlier this week is speaking out.

"Wonderful dad, wonderful brother. He loved his family. He would help anybody. He had the biggest heart," Amanda Rucinski said.

The family of Daniel Rucinski is trying to cope with his death.

"The best generous man that I know. I mean as a brother we were so close. This is just so unreal for me," Keysha Burnett, Daniel's sister, said.

The 35-year-old father was shot to death in the Locust community of Pottsboro Tuesday night. Rucinski's wife Amanda says she and Daniel were separated at the time.

"Devastated, devastated, and then having to tell my 13-year-old son is even more devastating," Amanda said.

Rucinski's son Dylan is one of three children he leaves behind.

"He was just really loving and caring," Dylan said.

With only pictures and memories left Rucinski's family is leaning on each other for comfort.

"Day by day. It's hard. It's really hard," Amanda said.

"I mean he's the one who was supposed to always be here for me," Burnett said.

Rucinski's funeral will be held next week with a date to be announced. His family is trying to raise money for his memorial service. Donations can be dropped off at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison.

Grayson County Sheriff's deputies arrested 31 year old Zarcon Volcanic Maddox in connection with Ruzinski's death. Maddox is being held in the Grayson County Jail on a $500 thousand dollar bond.
