HOUSTON (AP) - A memorial service for a teenager stabbed to death in his Houston-area school was marred by a fight and gunfire, according to police.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the altercation Sunday night just after 8 p.m. at Spring Baptist Church sent teenagers and other attendees scrambling for cover in the pews.
Christina Garza, a spokeswoman for the Harris County Sheriff's Department, says gunshots were fired outside the church. She says no injuries were reported and no arrests were made.
Seventeen-year-old Luis Alonzo Alfaro has been charged in the Sept. 4 stabbing death of 17-year-old Joshua Devon Broussard during a fight in the school cafeteria that police have described as likely gang-related.
