Train engine fire, sonic boom happen almost simultaneously in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, TX - Gainesville fire crews worked to extinguish a fire that started in a train engine around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.

The Gainesville Fire Chief says nobody was hurt and the fire pretty much put itself out, but it was stalled on the tracks at FM 1202 for about two hours. Another train had to push it back toward gainesville...

Many residents say they were alarmed by what sounded like an explosion. The fire chief said there was a sonic boom just before the train caught fire, and the two incidents were not related.
