SHERMAN, TX -- A former Sherman City Council member has died.
Friends say Charley Ellis Jr. died Thursday night from a massive heart attack. Ellis held the council's At Large Place 2 seat from 2001 to 2005. Mayor Cary Wacker says his death is a great loss to the community.
"He was certainly a man of great integrity and character, and a respected businessman and truly a public servant. So he's going to be much missed," Mayor Wacker said.
Ellis was the owner of Ellis Truck and Auto, and according to the Grayson County Sheriffs Office he once served as a reserve deputy.
