Former Silo coach pleads no contest to 14 assault and battery charges

BRYAN COUNTY, OK -- Former Silo Junior High School baseball coach, Roy West, accused of beaning players with baseballs, accepted a plea agreement today.

West pleaded no contest on amended charges, meaning the 14 felony assault and battery charges brought against him were reduced to misdemeanors.

He was sentenced to two years probation.

West resigned after allegations surfaced last year that he had thrown baseballs at players as punishment for poor performance.

West will also be under DA supervision and is not allowed to be involved in youth sports for two years.
He must also pay a $250 fine for each count.
