FOUR CORNERS FOOD PANTRY (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Four Corners Outreach Alliance, a new faith based non-profit alliance of local churches, has been working to open a food pantry for all in need in the four corner county area of Grayson, Fannin, Collin and Hunt counties. Our mission is to provide free food and other services for children, elderly, and families in crisis. The food pantry is located near the intersection of Hwy. 121 and Hwy.160 (North) in the old fellowship hall of Crossroads Presbyterian Church, close to where the four counties meet.

The Dedication of the Four Corners Food Pantry will be Sunday September 9th at 5:00PM, with prayers. Following that everyone is welcome to tour the pantry.

The following day Monday September 10th will be the first day we will be giving out food to clients.

The Food Pantry hours will be Monday 9AM to 11AM, and on the 3rd Saturday each month from 10 AM to 12PM. We plan to have emergency crisis food available in a client choice selection at the pantry. This store like atmosphere will allow families to choose their own food from the shelves, and will be weighed at checkout. Each person in the family will be entitled to a certain number of lbs. of food per month. For example, if its 15 lbs. per person- a family of four receives 60 lbs. of food per month. How Can You Help? By supporting us through food donations, volunteering your time, or money donations.

The Four Corner Alliance of churches currently includes (Bailey Baptist Church, Crossroads Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist of Trenton, First United Methodist of Blue Ridge, West Shady Grove Baptist Church, and First United Methodist Church of Anna.) We hope that more area churches might consider joining us in this ministry! To help aid us in this Four Corners Outreach Alliance has partnered with the 27-year-old Allen Community Outreach (ACO), which has already donated food to the pantry to help us get started along with lots of helpful information.

Who are our neighbors in need? How can we tell?

To answer that we did some research? We contacted some of the Independent School Districts in the Four Corners Area of Collin, Grayson, Fannin, and Hunt counties.

We found the following information affecting families in our own church areas. We charted the data given to us on the percentage of students receiving free and discounted meals within individual schools districts after checking with eleven area ISD’s; Anna ISD, Blue Ridge ISD, Bonham ISD, Celeste ISD, Dodd City ISD, Farmersville ISD, Leonard ISD, Tom Bean ISD, Trenton ISD, Whitewright ISD and Wolfe City ISD. The school district data showed all of the schools have between 40% to 60% of the students using assistance on their children’s meals.
