Woman seriously injured, man arrested in Denison stabbing

DENISON, TX - A Denison woman is recovering in a Dallas hospital after police say she was stabbed Monday afternoon while riding in a car traveling through Denison.

Denison Police say just after 12:30 p.m. they were called to the scene on Loy Lake Road near U.S. 75. They received numerous 911 calls when 31-year-old Sarra Armstrong exited the vehicle with stab wounds. Police say 64-year-old James Livingston of Sherman stabbed Armstrong in the abdomen and upper torso with a Bowie knife after the two got into an argument inside the vehicle.

When police arrived, bystanders had Livingston pinned down after he had tried to chase the woman. They found the weapon nearby.

Livingston was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted.

Armstrong was flown from the scene to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas with serious injuries, police said.
