NORTH TEXAS -- Governor Rick Perry says he'll appeal FEMA's decision not to provide federal assistance to 12 north Texas counties including Grayson, Fannin, and Lamar for damages from the December ice storm.

State officials across north Texas have received a letter from FEMA stating quote, "it has been determined that the damage from this event was not of such severity and magnitude as to be beyond the capabilities of the state and affected local governments".

Officials have estimated $30 million dollars in damages for December's storm.

Texas has 30-days to file its appeal.
