NORTH TEXAS -- Texas Governor Rick Perry appealed President Obama's denial of a major disaster declaration for 15 Texas counties following the December ice storm.
The declaration would have provided federal public assistance for all of North Texas including Lamar, Grayson and Fannin counties.
In a letter to the president, Perry says FEMA's assessment didn't include $13-million in ice removal and debris clearing costs, an additional one million in road damages and an extra five million in straight time costs.
Perry contends the storm did more than $48 million in total damages, which would qualify the area for FEMA assistance.
Lamar County alone received $17 million in damages.
