Grayson County Emergency Management stresses importance of CodeRED

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Grayson County Emergency Management is stressing the importance of their CodeRED alerts.

Through phone calls and text messages the system notifies you of any severe weather, boil order notices and evacuation orders. Emergency Manager Sarah Somers says it is vital to follow CodeRED instructions.

"We are very very careful about when we issue an emergency notification. So when you get one trust it, act on it. Follow through with what you need to do and what we're telling you. We're very aware that it can come off like a car alarm so we do not over use it," Somers said.

Somers also adds that when a CodeRED alert is issued do not call 9-1-1 unless you need emergency assistance, like help evacuating.
