Gunter man injured after crashing into tree

GRAYSON CO., TX-A Gunter man is in the hospital after crashing into a tree Friday afternoon.

DPS trooper, Terry Clark said the crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Farmington and Majors Road in Grayson county. He said 21-year-old Michael Ferguson was driving south on Farmington and, for unknown reasons, hit a tree on the side of the road. Clark said he believes alcohol may be involved in the crash.

Gunter and Van Alstyne fire also responded. Lt. Caleb Thompson said Ferguson was pinned inside his car, that's why they had to use the jaws of life to get him out.

"It appeared that he was trapped inside the vehicle mainly by the brake pedal. There's a lot of damage from the dash, major interior damage which required from extrication," he said.

Ferguson was transported to WNJ by Van Alstyne EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
