ARDMORE, OK - A former Healdton police chief on the wrong side of the law had his first court appearance Wednesday.
Jarod Barnes is charged with felonious possession of a firearm, and his preliminary hearing has been set for August 28th.
Barnes was terminated from the position of police chief in May. At the time, Carter County district attorney Craig Ladd confirmed that there was an ongoing investigation involving Barnes.
He was placed on suspension in March, but the suspension was lifted.
According to court documents during the suspension Barnes was in court facing a protective order placed by his ex-wife, but it was dismissed.
