Healdton council votes to not renew city manager's contract

HEALDTON, OK--The City of Healdton Oklahoma may be looking for a new city manager. The council voted Monday not to renew the contract of Louis Smitherman.

Smitherman said they said it is because he had not finished some ongoing projects. He has been through five performance evaluations in the past year. Smitherman said the town has been in dire financial straits because residents were not paying their utility bills.

He said he wishes for the best for Healdton. Smitherman was given a 60 day notice, council members could change their mind to renew his contract within those 60 days.
