TUPELO, OK - Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a hit and run accident that left an Ada man fighting for his life. No charges have been filed in the case but troopers are questioning a suspect.

Josh Stein's grandmother Nellie Hunter said her grandson had just gotten out of the military to spend more time with his kids.

"Josh was in the Marines," Hunter said. "He just got home. He spent two years in Afghanistan and he got home in August. He's only been home for two months."

Stein is now clinging to life at an Oklahoma City hospital

"The report said it was a hit and run but it wasn't a hit and run," Hunter said. "The guy deliberately ran over him."

Stein's family said he had just helped a bouncer escort 18-year-old Rowdy Wright out of Outlaw's Saloon Sunday morning when he was run over by a red Ford F-350 pickup.

"He has not been responding since he has been in," Hunter said. "We are hoping it's because they are keeping him heavily sedated."

OHP later learned the pick up belonged to Wright. Wright was questioned Monday afternoon but so far no charges have been filed.

Troopers are not yet releasing a possible motive.

"I hope and pray that he can get out and behold and be with his family," Hunter said. "Now I am just praying everyday that he makes it through the night. The night is always rough."

Stein's wife, mother and father are by his side at OU Medical Center where he is in critical condition, while the rest of his family including his daughter Layla and son Aiden pray for his recovery.

"He hasn't gotten to enjoy life much, being in the Marines then coming home and only being home two months," Hunter said.

Doctors say Stein needs blood. You can help by donating to the Oklahoma Blood Institute. Stein's family said an account is set up with OBI under Josh Stein.
