HOWE, TX -- The City of Howe has selected a new police chief. They announced their choice Tuesday night at a special city council meeting.

Council members selected Carl Hudman as the new police chief. Hudman is a Marine Corps veteran with more than 28 years of law enforcement experience. He and his family live in Howe, and he's excited to become a part of the force.

"I hope I can provide the leadership that they expect and that they demand of a police chief and make progress where it needs it," Hudman said.

Former police chief John Cherry resigned in December, according to Mayor Jeff Stanley, due to "policy issues brought before the council." Mayor Stanley says the newly appointed chief will start within the next few weeks. Hudman is currently the police chief in Tioga, Texas.
