Howe home goes up in flames; firefighters investigating

HOWE, TEXAS -- A Howe homeowner got a call this morning that no homeowner ever wants to receive.

She was at work when her son called her, telling her that her house was on fire.

Sherman, Tom Bean, Van Alstyne and Howe firefighters responded, working to stop the flames from spreading inside the home off Bennett Road.

Grayson County Asst. Fire Marshal David Gallagher says they are still investigating the cause, but it looks like the fire started in the living room area and spread throughout the home.

He says the house is probably a total loss.

"The incident command called Salvation Army for firefighter rehab and just to be on scene and the Red Cross has been notified to take care of the homeowners," Gallagher said.

Gallagher says three people live in that home. Fortunately, no one was home when the fire sparked.

The homeowner declined going on camera, but did tell us that this isn't the first time she's suffered this tragedy. She lost a previous home to a fire years ago.
