Howe man arrested, accused of animal cruelty

HOWE, TX -- Howe Police say they arrested a man for Animal Cruelty and Possession of Marijuana Sunday.

Police say around 11 a.m. there were reports of gunshots being fired at a residence on South Ricketts St. Authorities say a 59-year-old resident admitted to shooting and killing his dog in his back yard. Officers say the man is a convicted felon and is also facing a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Police say when they arrested the man they found marijuana in his pocket.

He has been taken to the Grayson County Jail.
