HUGO, OK -- A Hugo gym owner who coaches dozens of area kids is behind bars, after police say he had sex with one of his students.
39-year-old Sandro Ramos has been teaching gymnastics to kids in Hugo for years. People we spoke to say Ramos is well-liked, and call him an asset to the community.
They say the news of his arrest comes as a shock.
Last week, the Choctaw County Sheriff's Office and OSBI opened an investigation into the owner of Hugo Gymnastics & More, 39-year-old Sandro Ramos.
Chief Deputy Larry Hendrix says Ramos is accused of having a sexual relationship with a child under 16 years old.
"The accused crime supposedly took place at his home," Hendrix said.
An affidavit states Ramos first told investigators the child threatened to report he raped her if he did not send her text messages and tell her that he loved her. He denied both texting the girl or having any sexual contact with her.
But, in another interview a few days later, Ramos reportedly admitted that "the girl had a crush on him, which he was flattered by".
Ramos told police he text messaged her advising he wanted to "make love to her".
The affidavit states Ramos admitted the texting got out of hand, but denies having sexual contact with her.
"It is concerning because of, I mean it is a community hub. A lot of people's children attend there," Hendrix said.
"He's warm, friendly, outgoing, loves kids. You know, all my children love him. They know him by name," Richard Ludlow said.
Ramos coaches Richard Ludlow's daughter. Ludlow says he's floored by the accusations.
"She's been going about two years and she loves it. She's worked with both the coaches, and I've never seen nothing out of the way, never seen nothing questionable. I mean, I would trust my kids with him to go anywhere," Ludlow said.
Ramos is in the Choctaw County Jail facing a charge of first degree rape. Authorities say he will be arraigned Thursday.
Investigators say Ramos has operated gymnastics facilities in South Carolina and Florida.
