Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
MCCURTAIN COUNTY, OK -- After an 8 day trial a McCurtain County man has been found guilty of his wife's murder eleven years ago, although her body has never been found.
A jury convicted 39-year-old Jerry Meek of first degree murder and recommended a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole.
The conviction was made possible by a new DA willing to try the case without Hope Meek's body.
It took a jury over six hours of deliberations today to reach a guilty verdict.
Sentencing is set for December 11th.
