DAVIS, Okla. (AP) - A light mixture of snow and ice on Interstate 35 in the Arbuckle Mountains in southern Oklahoma is blamed for at least one traffic fatality and up to 40 separate crashes.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Betsy Randolph says one person was killed in an accident in Love County Monday morning but she had no further details. Randolph says the accidents include one with no injuries involving a fire truck that was assisting with another accident.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation spokeswoman Brenda Perry said I-35 is slick and hazardous in Murray, Carter and Love counties.

Television images show wreckers on the scene working to move tractor-trailer rigs through the hilly region and traffic moving slowly.

Perry says sunny skies are expected to clear this roadway later this morning.
