LOS ANGELES (AP) - The judge has taken the bench in the trial a lawsuit by Michael Jackson's mother against AEG Live, the concert promoter she claims failed to properly investigate the doctor convicted in the pop star's death.
The Los Angeles jury will hear opening statements Monday from attorneys who hope to frame the issues before testimony begins in what is expected to be a months-long trial.
Jackson's mother, Katherine, and siblings Randy and Rebbie are in the tiny, packed courtroom.
Outside, there's a large contingent of news media.
