Johnston Co. man charged with murder, requests attorney

JOHNSTON COUNTY, OK - Johnston County prosecutors formally charged Shelby Hicks with first degree murder Thursday afternoon.

Investigators said the 18-year-old shot 24-year-old Sergei Hyde three times last Friday night at a home near Kenefic. Hyde was found dead at the scene.

An affidavit states Hicks admitted to law enforcement that he shot Hyde but according to the affidavit Hicks said Hyde was an intruder in the home.

Hicks has now requested a lawyer. He is being held in the Johnston County jail without bond. No word on his next court date.
