Fannin Co. judge recruiting for open commissioner's seat

(BONHAM, TEXAS)-- Judge Spanky Carter is accepting resumes for a new precinct 4 commissioner following the death of Joe Strong last Thursday.City officials agree his spot won't be easy to fill. Judge Carter says "it was's a terrible thing..but it's something we have to go through..we have to keep moving forward..I know that's what he would want us to do..and that's what we're gonna do."

County commissioners have many duties which include county road repair,assisting emergency management during disasters as well as city businesses and taxes.

Officials say they are looking for a team player, as the commissioner must work closely with the City of Bonham and the community as a whole.

Judge Carter encourages all Bonham residents that are eligible to vote and at least 18 years old with no felony convictions to apply.

Judge Carter has the sole vote in the appointment of the new commissioner who will serve until December 31, 2014. Candidates can bring their resumes to the Judge's office through July 1st.
