FANNIN COUNTY, TX - A local church in a small Fannin County town broke ground today on a project they say will benefit the entire community.

"The benefits are countless, it's going to touch so many populations." said T-COG Executive Director, Susan Thomas.

Dozens gathered outside Little Bethel Church on Wilson street in Ladonia for the ground breaking of a new community center.

"This is a church that is an integral part of this community, they provide so much community service." Thomas said.

Pastor Cecil Jones has been with the church for 20 years.
He says the center will have something for everyone in Ladonia, from senior programs, social activities and meals, to an educational center for youth, and a GED program.

"This is such an isolated area, and it's going to offer a lot of opportunities to a lot of people, that they normally would not have." Jones said.

Texoma Council of Government Executive Director, Susan Thomas, agrees that this is exactly what the area needs, that's why T-COG, along with several other organizations, are helping to make it happen.

"There is so much need for opportunity, and the folks in this community deserve opportunity, and this project is going to provide that." Thomas said.

Pastor Jones says it's nice to see so many people coming together in the name of bettering their town.

"I'm happy, I'm ecstatic about it, because we saw the need and we decided that we had to do something about it." CJ 8secs

Jones says they hope to begin building around the first of February.
