Local car club donates hundreds of toys to Children's Advocacy Center

SHERMAN, TEXAS -- It was one cool car after another in Sherman Sunday.

Hamb Car Club members cruised into the Grayson County Children's Advocacy Center, toys in tow.

Donnie Smith says these hot rod owners already have their toys, but it's important to them that Grayson County kids in need also get toys for Christmas.

"We just thought we'd give to the kids that were unable to have a good Christmas," Smith said.

These generous givers drove in hundreds of toys for local kids who have been abused or neglected.

"There are so many children who come to the Children's Advocacy Center and need help and these gifts of toys and bears are so encouraging to those children and makes them laugh and forget about why they're here," CAC Board Member Anna Laura Page said.

"You know, we just like to do things for other people that are not as fortunate. This is the first time we've ever tried this and we didn't think it would be this big, so I'm really grateful," Smith said.

Child advocates were thrilled by their big show of support.

"We're thankful for the Hamb's auto club who are going to come and give all these gifts for these little children to make them smile and have a good Christmas. It's a very good thing," Page said.

"This is really great turn out and we're going to do it again next year and from now on hopefully," Smith said.
