Local nonprofit makes national news

SHERMAN, TX -- A local non-profit is making national news.
A CNN crew stopped by the Women Rock, Inc. office in Sherman Monday afternoon.

To feature the organization for the network's medical segment. Founder, Luann Daniel, says CNN found out about Women Rock after interviewing cancer survivor Rozlyn Austin at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

The 23-year-old Bonham native was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive type of breast cancer last year. Daniel says a national story is an opportunity to make women more aware of the importance of detection. But her main goal is to continue helping women, like Roz, right here in Texoma.

"I'm just really excited about it--just to get the Women Rock name out there. I don't think Women Rock ever wants to be nationwide because I want to have the "family feel" with the women we help," Daniel said.

Women Rock helps women in financial need get mammograms and other support services.
