DURANT, OK-- New technology, at one local hospital, means upgraded service for patients.

The Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma will soon have specialty rooms in the ER, to treat patients with specific problems on the spot.

They also have new equipment...and are renovating rooms to be able to serve more patients. A new system called "ER extra", a phone application that tells you the wait time at the ER, is improving service, as well.

"This is a very interactive facility that will have the expansion, where we are doubling our size and capacity, but also tuning to the personalization that we have recognized as a patient need," Phillip Baker, Chief Financial officer, said.

"We've been wanting to offer expanded services to our community and have the type of ER that is so deserving and definitely needed. We have many specialist that now we use rooms that were designed specifically for them," Pat Dorris, CEO of MCSO, said.

The construction and renovation of the ER will add 10 more rooms, doubling their capacity. The project should be finished by May.
