Man arrested after high-speed chase

ADA, OK -- An Ada man is in custody after the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says he led them on a high-speed chase through two counties.

Around 5:00 Saturday evening troopers say they attempted to pull over 31-year-old Gary Underwood for a seat belt violation in Hughes County, but he took off and headed to Pontotoc County.

In Ada troopers say he avoided an OHP roadblock and began driving in wrong lanes, then troopers say he rammed into an OHP unit in a neighborhood and that's when troopers fired shots at the suspect vehicle. We are told no one was injured by the gunfire.

Authorities say Underwood then fled on-foot near Center Street and 16th Street. He was later located inside a residence and booked into the Pontotoc County Jail.
