Man dies after crash at Oklahoma Sports Park

PONTOTOC COUNTY, OK -- A Norman man is dead After a crash at a sports park near Ada.
Now, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.

Troopers say 57 year old Jerry Harkrider was pronounced dead upon arrival at an Ada hospital. Investigators say Harkrider was racing at the Oklahoma Sports Park around 10:40 last night when his stock car went off the track, went airborne, and then crashed into a tire stop.
The park is about 10 miles northwest of Ada.
Trooper Tyler Jack says, at this time its unclear why Harkrider left the track.
"I was talking with the track officials, they stated that they know this gentleman, he's been here before, he's raced here a lot here before. They say he's a good guy, a clean racer."
On the Oklahoma Sports Park's Facebook page it says their prayers are with Harkrider's family and that he will be missed.
Trooper Jack says they are waiting to hear back from the medical examiner and are continuing to investigate.
