Sherman man injured after bailing out of burning truck

SHERMAN, TX -- A man was airlifted to the hospital after he bailed out of a burning truck in downtown Sherman Tuesday morning.

Around 11:30 police say a 40-year-old Sherman resident was driving east in the 400 block of East Lamar Street when his truck caught fire for an unknown reason.

We spoke to two women who saw the incident happen.

"He bailed out of the truck and landed on his back and the back of his head was bleeding" Debra Yowell said.

"He was probably knocked out, knocked him out, you know his senses, but he'll be okay. I hope," Lauri Hanson said.

The man's name has not been released. Sherman Police say he was airlifted to Plano Medical Center. No word on his condition, but we are told the driver was alert and speaking at the scene.
