PARIS, TX-- A 2014 graduate from North Lamar high school brought home gold at a national competition.

Tristan McReynolds was awarded the gold in Power Equipment Technology at the annual National Leadership and Skills Conference and Skills USA Championships.

Making his national accomplishment even more incredible is the fact that McReynolds cannot hear. He learned at the age of two that he was deaf, and with the help of an FM system hearing device, he competed independently using no interpreter.

McReynolds' sponsor Billy Copeland calls him an inspiration to many.
