Name released of alleged Howe dog killer

HOWE, TX -- We've learned the name of the Howe man who was arrested Sunday for allegedly killing his dog.

Officers say 59-year-old Charles Buchanan is charged with animal cruelty.

They say around 11 a.m. there were reports of gunshots being fired at his residence on South Ricketts Street.

Authorities say Buchanan told them he shot and killed his dog in his back yard.

Officers say he's a convicted felon and was in unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police say he's also charged with possession of marijuana after finding the drugs in his pocket at the time of his arrest.
