THACKERVILLE, OK - Sundays event was held in the Global Event Center inside then Winstar World Casino. Competitors had 10 minutes to consume as many hot dogs and buns as they could.

Organizers said qualifiers like the one today are being held all over the world. "This year we'll have 12 domestic qualifiers like this here at the Winstar World Casino today we'll also go to Beijing and we'll also go to Calgary," said Richard Shey, President of Major League Eating.

They said the goal of competitive eaters everywhere is the same, make it to the finals of the 96th annual Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating contest this 4th of July on Coney Island.

The Winner of the qualifier Adrian Morgan from Louisiana ate 21 hot dogs in 10 minutes. He said the finals is the world series of competitive eating. He said the competition will be intense.

"It's going to be very stiff competition I'm just going to go out and do the best that I can try to improve upon today and just try to keep going up instead of going down," Morgan said.

Morgan said he and all of the finalists will have their hands full especially if world champion and world record holder Joey Chestnut shows up.

"The one in Coney Island, Joey Chestnut 68 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes so a ways from my number but there's always room for improvement I guess," said Morgan.
