North Lamar High students get a close up look at the dangers of drunk driving

PARIS, Texas -- North Lamar High students got a realistic look this morning at the dangers of drunk driving.

Students watched a mock wreck demonstration with first responders arriving on scene to find students injured and killed in the demonstration.

Paul Allen with Dylan's Drivers, a free local sober ride service, hopes today's experience will make teens think twice about driving drunk or distracted driving.

"I think the message is very very powerful for them to hear about the choices that we make on a daily basis and to let them know I'm included with them. We all make choices and those choices are going to effect tomorrow and the next day and the people that care about us the most," Allen told News 12.

Dylan's Drivers offers free, confidential rides to anyone needing a safe ride home after drinking.

Dylan's Drivers is a non-profit organization that operates on Thursday's from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. and 10 p.m to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you need a ride home you can call 903-905-4959.

To date, Dylan's Drivers have provided 8,025 rides.
