Officer involved shooting in Healdton

HEALDTON, Okla. -- A suspect is dead after an officer involved shooting in Healdton.

Jessica Brown with the OSBI says it happened just after 1 p.m. at 250 Apex Drive.

Brown says a Healdton officer was responding to a domestic disturbance and found 36 year old Jonathan Wardlow acting erratically. At one point, Wardlow tried to strike the officer. The officer pulled out his taser and told Wardlow to get on the ground, which he complied to. The officer put away his taser and attempted to apply handcuffs when Wardlow got on top the officer and took the taser. Wardlow then pointed the taser at the officer. That's when the officer pulled his gun and shot Wardlow.

OSBI agents have interviewed several people who witnessed the shooting. Wardlow was from Healdton but has no connection to the address where the shooting took place.

OSBI will complete a comprehensive report and deliver it to the district attorney who will determine whether the shooting was justified.

The officers name has not been released.
