An upper level wave will interact with a warm and very moist air mass to generate thunderstorms through Wednesday. Lightning and torrential rainfall that could cause flash flooding are the primary threats, 1 to 4 inches...with a secondary threat of damaging winds. Turn around, don't drown!
TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) - A Northeast Texas police officer has been seriously hurt after being hit by a truck while responding to a disturbance involving about 100 people.
Texarkana police say the incident happened early Friday at a park and nobody has been arrested.
Sgt. Steve Shelley says police are looking for a silver SUV that struck 30-year-old Officer William Sprague while fleeing. Sprague was transported to a Texarkana hospital for treatment of head and upper body injuries.
Shelley says a large group of people were at Grady T. Wallace Park when some fights broke out. Shelley says authorities are not sure what sparked the disturbance and police are seeking the public's help in the investigation.
Further details weren't immediately released.
