OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Mandatory safety drills and a school security tip line would be among the changes in Oklahoma's public schools under a set of recommendations brought forth by a special task force.

Members of the study panel created after the deadly shooting at a Connecticut elementary school finalized their report Tuesday.

The legislative recommendations offered by the Oklahoma Commission on School Security are designed to ensure there will be no such tragedy in Oklahoma.

The recommendations include creating an Oklahoma School Security Institute that would coordinate and standardize school security procedures statewide. Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb chairs the 22-member Commission on School Security. He says it would cost about $500,000 to create the institute.
