OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma lawmakers soon will soon vote on three separate bond proposals totaling $260 million for repairs to the state Capitol and nearby buildings and for the construction of museums in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
House and Senate panels gave initial approval to the projects on Tuesday. The measures will be considered in the full House and Senate.
One bond proposal is for $200 million for repairs to the Capitol building, Jim Thorpe building and governor's mansion. A separate $40 million proposal would provide state funding to help finish construction of the American Indian Cultural Center and Museum near downtown Oklahoma City.
A third proposal for $20 million would begin construction of a popular culture museum in the Brady Arts District in downtown Tulsa.
Conservative lawmakers oppose the two museum proposals.
