OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The state Board of Education is delaying the release of a new system that grades Oklahoma's schools.

Officials had planned to release the new grades Monday, but the Board of Education voted to delay the release until its next meeting on Oct. 25.

The new system evaluates schools on an A-to-F grading scale.

Several school officials and superintendents oppose the new system and question the formula that's used to determine a school's letter grade.

The new system was approved by the Republican-controlled Legislature in 2011 as a way to provide easy-to-understand information to parents.
