POW/MIA Day in Paris

PARIS, TX -- People Across the county today are remembering those who fought for our county and were either prisoners of war or missing in action.

This morning Paris' local VFW Post 3990 hosted a POW/MIA Memorial at the Love Civic Center grounds.

Veterans placed roses and a hat on a table, honoring servicemen and woman from each military branch while the North Lamar Choir sang different military songs.

According to VFW Commander, Bud Mackey, over 83,000 military personnel are still missing in action.

"A lot of us lost close friends, relatives during a conflict whether it be World War II, Korea, Vietnam," said Mackey.

Today's memorial was the first time the VFW hosted the event outside their post. They now plan to make it an annual event.
